What is Robert Wringham?
Frequently Asked Questions "What are you fucking looking at?" A screen. Believe me, I'd sooner not be. I'd rather be looking at something nice, possibly something painted by Paul Delvaux. "Are you some kind of poofter?" Some kind, yes. I am one of those bisexuals you have read about in the newspapers. Other bisexual personalities have included William S. Burroughs, Lord Byron, Margaret Cho and David Bowie before he changed his mind in 1999. We even have a flag. It looks like this. "Are you just Rob Westwood writing under a different name?" There seems to have been some consternation over this, especially among Rob's family and colleagues. I'd like to take the opportunity to set things straight once and for all. Mr. Westwood and I are doppelgangers: that is, we are almost entirely identical to look at and have lead remarkably parallel lives. We have both worked in libraries; we both have degrees in psychology; we both moved from the Midlands to Glasgow at around the same time; and we both broke our arms in road accidents during the same week in January 2007. The two of us have met on several occasions to discuss these coincidences and we recently worked out that we are in fact third cousins twice removed. Rob is currently employed by the educational division of the NHS and is writing a self-help book about simplification. Another doppelganger of mine is called Mr. Seb Patrick though the likeness is less spectacular and we have never spoken. "When is the book coming out?" I am writing a book. As to when it's "coming out" I have no idea. I've not found a publisher yet. Other projects such as my one-man show has taken priority over this. "When is the podcast coming out?" It's out now! It's an ad-libbed affair and is called Wringham and Godsil's Alphabites. No idea how frequently we'll do these but we plan to do twenty-six instalments: one for each letter of the alphabet. "When is the magazine coming out?" Issue One of New Escapologist is now sold out. Keep watching the website for updates about Issue Two. Interviews Diary of a humourist - in which I am asked about Glasgow, the internet, diary-writing and The Occasional Papers Wringham Intervju - in which I discuss comedy, music and magazines with Swedish artist, Cap_Scaleman.
